General
- Do not share negative information, negative news, or dumb memes from the internet unless that information is related (and ironically connected to our work).
- You are allowed to make a public comment as long as you don’t interrupt someone specific (ex: Hey John, yo … listen, …).
- Do not use an acronym for a system unless you’ve already provided the full name with the acronym to the recipient. (Ex: InfusionSoft (IS), going forward: IS, etc.)
- When possible, use an image to describe the outcome you want when working with others (tip: use http://images.google.com to find one)
Email
- Never reply to an email confirming receipt of the email. Receipt is assumed.
- Always include your phone number (cell) in an email when a request is made. (If it doesn’t exist in your email signature).
- Always include a link to a resource (website, document, project, etc) if you mention it in your email, it will save a lot of time and confusion for the recipient.
- Always use bulleted lists with numbers sorted by priority/most important instead of a paragraph regarding questions or projects, so that the respondent can easily reply to and reference such numbers, or reply inline.
Social Media
- Do not share controversial items on a corporate account unless approved by management, as it will avoid offending potential customers.
Group Chat
- Always have a purpose to your messages.
- Always mention someone’s name when chatting with them so others can filter them out.
Private Facebook Groups
- Try and post follow up questions or comments to an existing post related to your new comments vs. creating a new post.
Dates, Timezones & Locations
- When mentioning a time, if no timezone is used AST will be assumed. Otherwise mention the timezone (Ex: 10AM EST, 1PM AST, etc)
- When referencing a location, best to use a descriptive name or add location so that no one is confused (Ex: Not: Studio, Better: Studio on Main St, Moncton)
- When possible, use the 17-Wed-16 format for dates.
